Sustainable Education Grant Now Accepting Applications

JEFFERSON CITY, MO -The Beth Calabotta Sustainability Education Grant, established in 2018, is proud to announce that applications are now open for the annual award. This grant, which aims to support student scientists dedicated to sustainable research, offers a $2,000 award to a deserving recipient.

Applicants have the opportunity to discuss their involvement in various topics including biodiesel and renewable diesel research, development related to feedstock production and fuel production, environmental attributes, and general energy studies. The full list of topics can be found on the Clean Fuels Alliance Foundation website.

Caleb Moellenhoff, a previous grant recipient, described his experience, saying, “This grant helped me continue in the development of a novel biodiesel process. I believe biodiesel will revolutionize the industry through its superior sustainability, efficiency, and practicality. I was very thankful and excited for this opportunity.”

To qualify for the grant, students must complete an online application available on our website. If selected, the recipient must commit to participating in the Biodiesel Sustainability Workshop scheduled for March 11-14, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri. Grant funds should be utilized for travel and attendance of the workshop, with the remaining funds applied to academic expenses. Full eligibility requirements and criteria are listed in the online application. We encourage all passionate student scientists interested in sustainability to apply for this unique opportunity.

The application deadline for the Beth Calabotta Sustainability Education Grant is January 22, 2024. The winner will be announced in February 2024.

About the Beth Calabotta Sustainable Education Grant

Beth had an unquenchable love for agriculture and life-sciences. Later in her career, Calabotta’s efforts focused almost solely on the development of biofuels as viable energy alternatives to conventional fuels. Based on Calabotta’s work, the Foundation and the Clean Fuels Alliance America Board want to continue building on the idea that adopting innovative technologies and diversifying markets will produce environmental benefits that can be documented through research and data.
