Late last spring, 30 older residents gathered at a senior wellness center in Washington DC to learn about the Trinity Study results. Of those present, 80% raised their hands when asked if they knew someone suffering from a respiratory illness. Many were interested in the health benefits of biodiesel. Made possible with a Foundation grant, the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition (GWRCCC) has held other similar outreach events in environmental justice communities. Executive Director Antoine Thompson has found that, “Once you tell the biodiesel story, people are very open and receptive especially with the successes we have seen with the DC Government.” The Foundation plans more EJ activities with GWRCCC in 2023.
